A bit of background!
Got into art in about 1987 at about the same time I became more serious about music via the hip hop scene and graffiti. I was creating pencil or ink drawings up until the time I finished my 6th form in a psychedelic / repetetive / geometric style.
Drawing made me stressed out... especially minute technical pens and I would be prone to destroying sometimes hundrededs of hours of work if I did a mistake.
Needing a break from drawing I fell into photography when studying an art foundation course (the precursor to an art based degree in the UK). Going on to study a Lens & Digital Media degree I specialised in club / party photography. Two years into the course I realised the futility of trying to get into photography in a jobs market that was bursting at the seems already. This fact together with the anger I felt at continually being told to conform in one way or another (if I can't experiment at college when will I be able to??) I started to feel unhappy at college.
At about this time I started to take my interest in digital design more seriously, and due to the lack of resources and the substandard teaching practices at my university I set about teaching myself any application I felt I should know, avoiding attending college as much as was possible without being thrown out and created a studio at home that I could relax in.
Feeling very relieved to leave college I was lucky enough to leave college in the wake of the dot com crash. In the year since leaving college I have been learning more in various areas of digital design and doing various pieces of club flyer and web design.
